FAQs

What is the Global Data Impact Index (GDII)?
The Global Data Impact Index (GDII) is an advanced metric developed to measure the impact of data on business success. Launched in 2025, it is part of an ongoing global study.

What does the GDII measure?
The GDII evaluates how data influences business success, defined as a combination of five core value drivers: operational efficiency, revenue, brand strength, innovation, and competitiveness. It considers each company’s data requirements, goals, and challenges to assess the potential value data can generate.

What does the GDII study include?
Beyond reporting the current GDII score, the study highlights key differences across regions, industries, and company sizes. It identifies the main drivers and barriers to data impact, offering a clear view of the conditions that maximize value.

The study provides actionable recommendations regarding data strategy, system architecture, implementation, integration, and operations. It also examines software disciplines such as PIM/PXM, MDM, CRM, e-commerce, and analytics, assessing their role in optimizing data flows and generating business value.

Who is behind the GDII?
The GDII is a joint initiative by Canada-based market research firm RIWI and Germany-based analyst group TGOA. RIWI contributes global reach and survey expertise, while TGOA offers analytical insight and economic context for the findings.

How do businesses benefit from the GDII?
Business leaders gain deep insight into the factors that influence data-driven success, helping them evaluate and optimize their data strategies across the information supply chain, integration processes, and day-to-day operations.
Organizations can also request personalized Data Impact results and compare them to global and industry benchmarks. For more information, contact: heads@tgoa.com

Can I sponsor the GDII project?
Yes, sponsorship opportunities are available in three tiers. Learn more by visiting our sponsorship page or contacting heads@tgoa.com.

How is the validity of the GDII ensured?
The GDII is built on TGOA’s rigorous research methodology and a robust framework that covers the main dimensions of data impact. TGOA’s analysts have a proven track record with tools such as the Market Performance Wheel (MPW) and the Digital Performance Wheel (DPW).
RIWI converted this framework into a comprehensive online assessment and provided global survey reach. Strict quality controls were embedded to ensure the reliability of the data collected.

Will there be future GDII studies?

Yes, the GDII is designed as an annual study to track the evolving impact of data on the global economy. Additional region- or industry-specific reports may also be developed.
